HTML & Coding Class: Day 4

I'm four days into my HTML and coding class and I have to admit it's quite interesting. Learning these different elements are required to make these paragraphs separate to adding links inside pictures is quite complex. I'm not going to lie that there are moments when I do find myself having a hard time keeping up with certain elements. My notebook is currently filled with red ink full of coding. But I'm not going to give up instantly.

If I want to build my dream website, I need to keep going. Quite honestly, I think I need to dedicate myself to a year of learning all of this stuff. Since I'm taking the online class by myself, this is going to take some time. Right now, I love it.

My Struggle With Chasing Rocky

I had a conversation with my therapist the other day about my work load; being the head writer of an upcoming television show, helping my friend edit his book, and planning my vacation to go back to my hometown New Orleans with my best friend. In the conversation, I revealed my personal struggle with chasing the fantasy of the person that I want to be.

Rocky is a persona I created somewhere in my lifetime. Kind of like Beyoncé when she created Sasha Fierce. Rocky Caston was a way for me to do the job in the business I wanted to be in and then retreat home to recharge back in my apartment as Roque. I love to entertain people and be social, but I'm naturally shy and always thought hard about things I did and said before I even said and do it.

But somewhere down the line, I forgot about myself and started chasing after Rocky unconsciously. I relied on Rocky so much in my career, I forgot who Roque was. Rocky is the active one. Rocky is the social one. Rocky is the one that aspires to be Jay Gatsby. There is nothing wrong with it until you rely on him so much that you stay in character like a method actor.

Eventually, I sat down and my therapist brought me back to Earth. She told me that I need to be in the moment and be thankful for the things I've accomplished now. Sure, I picture Rocky as the heavily successful man I want to be, but I have made my own stepping stones in my career. I may not be where I want to be, but I'm getting there slowly but surely as long as I stay active at what I do. I'm chasing a fantasy to the extreme that I'm not giving myself the chance to enjoy the things I've accomplished thus far.

I will admit that it's still a struggle to rely on Rocky so much because he is forever a part of me. I just have to remember who Roque is and balance it out. We all two sides to our personality, but we can't rely heavily on a singular one.

New Clothes, New You!

I read my horoscope every day before I do anything else. For me, horoscopes help me understand what I have to do for the day.

One day, my horoscope read that it was time to remove the past via my closet. In other words, get rid of the clothes that didn't make me look 25, and start updating my wardrobe with clothes that made me look my age. It was time to acknowledge that I wasn't young anymore. I'm halfway to reaching 30 and it's time I look like it. I can only look young for a while, so it was time for a change.

Quite frankly, I agreed with my horoscope. It was time for me to truly look like my age, and stop hiding behind the guy next door image. So I went into my closet and took all what I thought were kid clothes, and kept the adult material. I went shopping at my favorite thrift store and bought clothes that felt, fit, and looked like the person I want to be at my age. I didn't care about the price. I bought my clothes, updated my closet, and left it as it was.

I say all this to say that if there comes a time when you look at your closet, and there are some clothes that you think are too young for you, and you want to look like your age, dump them. Go shopping and update your wardrobe. It's time to show the world what you really look like and how you feel. There is no shame in it, for we are all getting older. The best thing we can do is embrace our ages and be proud of it.

I do at 25 and so can you at any age.

How To Have An Active Summer Social Life

Summer is here, which means it’s time to go out and about with our friends, families, and dates. It’s time to wake each other up in the morning and tell them that it’s time to enjoy what’s going on beyond their window. If you want to have an active summer social life, it requires time, discipline, and organization to keep it all together.

Organize Your Schedule
It’s understandable that we all have busy lives, but in order to be a true socialite, you have to make your schedule flexible. This is the time for you to sit down at your desk, open up your laptop, pull out your notebooks and planners, and begin to create your schedule. Figure out the dates and times that you’re available to hang out and relax. Of course, unfortunate things may come up and you need to adjust. That’s the part of human life, but it’s up to you to adjust.

Browse & Search for Hotspots
In the age of technology, hotspots are accessible for us via our cell phones and computers. If you want to know where the latest spot is, just go online. Create a list of locations from where to eat to where to party that you think will be great to have you and your buddies over for a good time. The way to have an active social life is knowing what’s going on out there. Otherwise, you’ll be trapped inside living in a web of mystery.

Save, Spend, and Organize Wisely
Here is the one thing people don’t tell you about having a social life. A social life is very expensive. Unless you're born rich or have stacks of money saved in the bank, you might realize your social life a little hard to keep up with. Think about it?

You got to wake up in the morning to meet up with friends for breakfast. Then you probably got to meet up with others at a special event or something. Then maybe you have to meet up with friends or a date for dinner or something. All those social occasions can add up financially.

Create yourself a budget where you can attend all of these get together's without breaking the bank. Find locations where they provide exotic food at extremely low prices. It's one thing to not disappoint your friend, but it’s another thing to disappoint your wallet.

Book and Plan Ahead
Last minute social things can be quite a rush, but I’m the type of person that likes to book and plan days, weeks, sometimes months in advance. I want to make sure everything is set for the next get together and that nothing goes awry. If you want to make nothing goes bad with your social gather it’s probably best to book early and plan ahead of the game.

Have Fun!
Booking, planning, and organizing your social occasions can be stressful that you often forget the point of why you’re doing. When you arrive at these social things grab a glass of champagne and have a good time. Don’t worry about anything else except that you are with your friends enjoying the festivities. That’s the main point of going. To have fun and create great memories.

Oh, I Thought You Was Waving At Me

I was at the Family Dollar buying a bag of Cooler Ranch Doritos and orange soda for the night. I was staring at the grocery bag, not paying attention to anyone in my way. When I raised my head up I saw this guy waving his head towards me. based on my eye position, I speculated that he was talking to me. I didn't know the guy, but I assumed he knew me. I'm a social person so I might've known the man a social event or something.

Within seconds of being close to the cashier, I waved my hand at him.

He gave me this awkward look on his face as if I was weird or something. Before I knew it, I heard someone shout the name "Paul."

I turned around and there was this woman who ran past me and towards the guy. They kissed. That's when I realized it wasn't me he was waving at. I was the wrong person. I bought my stuff and ran out the Family Dollar as fast as I could.

Now that was awkward.
